TRANSLATION FROM SUONO ON MAS IKARUS II

By Pierluigi Sandonnini and Fabrizio Montanucci

"On modern music (jazz, fusion and even rock), the Ikarus is very impressive. Its sound is aggressive but at the same time warm and liquid; it captivates with the intense fascination of the sounds it portrays. It captivates because those sounds contain, without any veiling, all the musical detail, and in the best way possible. It's sound is clear, vibrant, with edges that are clean and crisp. Sounds that are sweet even in the most difficult frequency ranges, deep bass or high treble, and even in the most intricate passages. Undoubtedly this is an amplifier with a capable character, and one, which does not lose its composure even when you mistreat it a bit. Considering the power output, not even 40 watts per channel, the temptation ot drive it hard comes easily. But the feared collapse just doesn't come.

The Ikarus plays loud, plays well, and goes on fascinating you. But it is with the late night listening session, at home, with the volume control set just right so as not disturb anyone, family or neighbours, that the Ikarus reaches the pinnacle of enjoyment. Joe Henderson breathes into the mouthpiece of his tenor sax "Miles Ahead', the window is pen to let a breath of fresh air in to take the place of the torrid daytime heat. Ah.. Tender is the night."
