PHOS

PHOS from the Greek literally translates to "LIGHT" which best describes this transport's ability to illuminate and resolve an incredible amount of information from the finest recorded compact discs.

What the critics say...

" The sound of the transport appears absolutely neutral, uncolored, but not cold in any way, giving on the whole a rather warm effect with a quite complete range of tonal colors ... I imagined the price of the transport to be higher than it is given the quality of the reproduction, the absolute lack of any trace of 'digital sound', the solidity of imaging of the PHOS and also its luxurious appearance. "
Mario Berlinguer SUONO , Italy.

" Whatever complex, state-of-the-art technology has been embodied in the PHOS/MASDAC combination, the sound is anything but complex. It's a simple, untainted stream of highly naturalistic music with holistic, realistic instrumental timres and convincing spatial recreations that you just can't get with affordable integrated players. Most noticeable was the naturalness of the attack of notes: especially piano, bass and percussion. Bass solidity was stupendous, with ambiguities of pitch only evident on poorly recored material. Almost as striking was the way the PHOS/MASDAC system handles the subtle decay of notes-especially bass notes, which often die suddenly rather than fade away naturally. Place into this illusory enviroment a perfectly articulated human voice and you have a private audience with your heroes with such an uncanny sense of physical presence that politeness makes you hesitate to talk or shift in your seat".

CDM9 Holographic Laser Mechanism

The Holographic light pen in the PHOS uses diffraction rather than reflection to achieve beam separation. This totally new concept is significantly smaller than the previous CDM4 mechanism used by our competitors. It is also more dependable since the advanced optics are simplified and physically more stable. The tiny light pen sits on an ultra-lightweight radialinear suspension which isolates in both horizontal and vertical plane. This suspension replaces the inferior spring suspension used in the CDM4 which is only effective with vertical movement. Apart from these significant improvements, the lower moving mass ensures better track ability and faster access to encoded information. The whole mechanism is mechanically connected via two plug arrangements which allow it to be easily removed, replaced or serviced.

Ultra Short Digital Signal Path.

The PHOS takes advantage of the latest developments in Servo electronics and minimal digital signal path. In fact, there is only one buffer from laser servo to output which drives the primary of our proprietory digital output transformer.

Stainless Steel Chassis

The high "Q" and ceramic properties of stainless steel are useful especially with the evacuation of vibrations typical in CD playback systems. In particular, the higher speed of rotation (200 - 400 rpm) and DC servo operation requires ultra-stiff construction.

Direct Drive Motor

By using voltage regulation techniques and special wire in the path from the 'drive circuitry' to the DC motor, we are able to improve upon the 'timing' in the DC servo control and hence improve the sound quality.
