THE LEADER IN ELECTROSTATIC TECHNOLOGY
THE Electrostatic speaker in its basic form consists of two performated metallic screens which are insulated and sandwich a high resistivity coated plastic diaphragm. The diaphragm must be highly resistive to enable it to conduct and retain a high voltage charge of 2000-6000 volts.
An audio step up transformer is electronically connected to the front and rear screens. When an audio signal is applied to the transformer input, it modulates this signal between the two screens, varying the elctrical field between the screens and the highly charged diaphragm which then vibrates the surrounding air to create the 'sound'.
THE ULTIMATE LOUDSPEAKER TECHNOLOGY: If we study every technique which has been used to vibrate some form of diaphragm to produce music, the electrostatic has four very important features.
This restricts the low-level performance of a system which then compresses the real dynamic range of a musical performance. In particular, fine music detailing and room acoustic information is lost.
The inherent linearity of MAS electrostatics allows listening at whisper sound levels. The natural dynamics of music are not compressed and so musical recordings are more spectacular at far lower listening levels than one is used to with other speaker technologies. Your low level hearing improves as you do not need to stress your ears in the pursuit of listening pleasure.
